Silence was first made available on the vinyl deluxe edition of After Dark in early February 2024 before getting released to all platforms on February 28, 2024.

The song was written by Jeffrey Blake Simpson, Tim McEwan, Tyler Lyle, and produced by Simpson and McEwan. It has a running time of four minutes and three seconds and is in the key of E-flat minor. This is the second time that Essenger and The Midnight have worked together - Essenger co-produced four tracks on Horror Show in 2020.
