Cold Pizza (stylized as C O L D P I Z Z A)[1] is a song by The Midnight. It was released exclusively on YouTube on February 9, 2021.[2]
Track info
The song was written and produced by band member Tim McEwan. It has a running time of three minutes and thirty-one seconds and is in the key of E major.
Early in 2021, McEwan began streaming the creation of new songs on Twitch. The composition of Cold Pizza was shown over the course of a couple of weeks spanning the end of January into the beginning of February. He hinted during these streams that the song would release on February 9, a date which is commemorated in the US as National Pizza Day.[3] The song premiered on YouTube that day and was accompanied by the publication of a website for Pizza Zone, a fictitious pizza chain seen throughout the artwork of several of The Midnight's singles and albums.[4] The site included a form to enter one's name and street address, and three people in the Los Angeles area were chosen from the submitted names. The winners were delivered a pizza from Triple Beam Pizza and given a full set of The Midnight vinyl records by McEwan.[5][6][7] The Pizza Zone website also advertised merchandise for sale and included a phone number, +1 (323) 553-1712, that people could call to hear an automated voice message advertising Pizza Zone and a snippet of Cold Pizza.
