This template should be applied to images of currency whose copyright status is unclear.
When uploading images of currency, editors should take care to understand the copyright status of the currency designs. Currency often falls into its own category for copyright, and the rules of thumb for evaluating public domain and fair use claims for artistic works may not apply.
Some jurisdictions that apply special copyright rules to currency include:
- Ireland: all currency designs are presumed to be under copyright and require a non-free use rationale.[1][2]
